Quarter-Finals Kick Off at the African Amputee Football Cup of Nations in Egypt Held at Katameya Petrosport Club

The quarter-final stage of the African Amputee Football Cup of Nations hosted by Egypt from May 18 to 27 are being held at the Katameya Petrosport Club, where athletes from across the continent have gathered to showcase their skill, resilience, and passion for the game. The tournament features the participation of 13 nations, making it one of the most diverse and competitive editions to date.

The countries taking part in this year’s championship are: Gambia, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Algeria, Kenya, Morocco, Burundi, Ghana, Angola, Nigeria, Tanzania, Liberia, and host nation Egypt.

The event was honored by the presence of several distinguished guests, including Major General Ayman Farouk, Chairman of Petrosport Company, and Dr. Mahmoud Abdel Aziz, representing His Excellency the Minister of Youth and Sports. Also in attendance was Dr. Hossam El-Din Mostafa, President of the Egyptian Paralympic Committee, and Mr. Mohamed Kamel, President of the One-Leg Football Committee, Head of the African Paralympic Committee, and a leading advocate for adaptive sports in Africa.
The event also welcomed the Deputy Ambassador of Morocco, adding a diplomatic presence to a championship that symbolizes unity and inclusion through sport.

The competition not only highlights the growing popularity of amputee football across Africa but also reflects the unifying power of sport and the determination of athletes overcoming physical challenges.
